Just recently it became well known that a chemical that can be found in a lot of different household chemicals is what is causing a lot of children all over to be getting lower IQ scores.
This was found out through a study on pregnant women who gave birth to children over several years, what was marked was how the females who had high levels of a chemical known as din butyl phthalate and or disobutyl phthalate happened to have children who were all marked with lower IQ scores.
Within the study it was also concluded that when the same children were the age of seven and were exposed to these chemicals were all known to have up to six points less than the children who were not exposed to such high levels of these chemicals. These phthalates are what makes plastic so much more durable and it also helps plastic containers hold in a smell.
This chemical is found in a lot of everyday products and not just in household chemicals. For example, they are in the plastic Tupperware you use to store food in and what you use to heat food up with in the microwave. They are also found in products such as air fresheners and dryer sheets; they are also found in shampoo bottles, conditioner bottles, body wash bottles and more such as cosmetics and a ton of other things that you more than likely have in your house at this very moment.
According to these recent studies it is found that more than four hundred and seventy million pounds of this chemical are made and used each and every single year. In the same study it was noted that females always have more exposure to this chemical because they use more of the products that the chemical is in than the men do. This chemical ends up in your body when you eat or drink anything from a container with it or use a product from a bottle with it. You can even get it in your body by breathing in fumes that contain the chemical.
There is also a study that shows how the phthalates also tend to have a negative impact on the males reproductive system, causing them to become a little less fertile than males who have lower levels of this chemical found in them.
